The ELF is now in the process of establishing a number of new working groups to work on conceptual issues around the game. One of the most important aspects here is the setting up on a working group on coaching qualification.
Coaching is a key factor in furthering the growth and development of the game. Coaches fulfil a very important role for athletes, clubs and national teams. Their guidance and management shape teams as well as athletes. At present, most European Lacrosse coaches have varying degrees of qualification, experience and in most cases, an awful lot of enthusiasm. However, with the exception of a few national schemes, there is currently no established pathway in how to formally qualify as a coach. Creating a European framework to develop this is an important stepping stone towards growing the game, both in width as well as in depth.
The table below sets out the milestones for this working group up to next year’s Annual General Meeting. The main objective is to define draft objectives for the working group, including input from the board, a consultation period and the national governing bodies.
At the AGM, we have asked interested individuals to come forward and get involved in this group. We now would also like to ask the wider community to get involved with this very exciting topic.
